As the summer heat fades, this is one of the most comfortable seasons for exploring Izu. Here are our favorite nearby spots you can reach by car from Onsenyado Nonbiri.
About 40 min by car
An iconic Izu landmark shaped like an upturned bowl. A chairlift takes you to the summit, where a 360° view stretches across the mountains of Izu to Sagami Bay. A walking path circles the old crater rim — especially pleasant to walk in this milder season.
About 15 min by car
One of Izu's best-known waterfalls, listed among Japan's 100 finest. The cool mist and the contrast of the pool against the surrounding greenery make it a refreshing stop — and it's close enough to visit easily on the way to or from your stay.
About 50 min by car
A walking trail links seven waterfalls along a river through the forests of Amagi. A worthwhile day trip if you'd like to see a bit more of Izu's natural scenery.
About 30 min by car
A large park with cacti and succulents alongside free-roaming animals, including capybaras. Popular with families — several of our own guests have mentioned how much their kids enjoyed it.
About 10 min by car
Naka-Izu is also a wine-producing region, and this is grape harvest season at the local wineries. Several offer tastings and tours — a nice option for a more grown-up day out.
After a day of sightseeing, come back and unwind in our panoramic open-air onsen. Enjoy Onsenyado Nonbiri as your private, one-group-a-day base for exploring Izu.
